Employed again...
Although the two month sabbatical was the best thing I have ever done... (I highly recommend a good detox), I am employed again and enjoying it!! I had my moments of doubt that I would ever want to work again, but the fact that I now want to get out of bed (at 7:30 - crack of dawn in "Sally time") - well, miracles do happen. Actually, I'm sure my friends and family are relieved that they don't have to worry about me pulling in a paycheck. They worry too much! But I love them nonetheless. So, this posting is for all those who held their tongue over the past two months - you can breathe now :-)

My Niece and Nephew
Being an Aunt is the coolest - I love these babies, but thank goodness I don't have to be the one to feed them at 3 a.m.
Here is my nephew and his "big sister" Isabel, who was feeling left out in not having her own vibrating bed.
My sisters are brave women indeed and I have absolutely no idea how they function on less than 6 hours of sleep a night, especially with interruptions. Certainly when I lived with them they would have been monsters if they had to be woken up that much, and I would probably have more scars. Miraculously, they appear to be sane and not vicious sleep deprived harpies. I wish I could say the same for myself after a night of "I can't put this book down till it's done or I pass out". At least I can sleep until Noon the next Saturday to catch-up...Book Swap Party
My dear friend Mel is an avid reader, and as luck would have it, our taste in books is pretty much the same. So, as an excuse to feed several habits (drinking, eating and acquiring more novels), Mel holds a party about once a year - bring as many books as you like and then take the same amount when you leave. The great thing is, no one she invites really knows each other. Sure, you can bring friends, but I usually go by myself and each time I meet funny, smart, interesting (and highly entertaining - Mina, you know this is you!) gals. Tonight I came away with 4 books that I can't wait to read (I only brought 3, but Mel has insisted I read a Phillipa Gregory, and I can't say no as I am quite curious). We chatted about the books laid out on various tables sorted by "category" (apparently "Love in the Time of Cholera" either sucks or you really love it), travel, blogs (check this one out http://www.thepioneerwoman.com), gorgeous guys (namely Gerard Butler), and we drank - a lot. Actually, I think I'm still buzzing, so if the quality of this blog is poor we can blame it on the mojito.
I highly recommend the Book Swap party idea - and I intend to steal it from Mel and start my own tradition. Mel will understand, she loves me (and she'll be invited).

A hint of future postings
Welcome to my new Blog! This site is still under construction, but it will soon have more pictures of my new neice and nephew born in 2007. And, my thoughts on being the cool single Aunt Sally who babysits, yet can always leave (no early mornings or midnight feedings for this chica!!)
Stay tuned...
